Battery Manufacturing is Key Market Segment in the Energy Storage Supply Chain

Climate Change Business Journal Reprint on Energy Storage Trends and Technology

The global energy transition to renewable energy is at the forefront in driving demand for battery and energy storage technologies, but it is not the only driver.

It’s not just a demand for renewable energy, but also an increasing demand for energy resilience that will continue to accelerate the demand for energy storage.

From severe weather events and rolling blackouts in California and Texas to powerful hurricanes in the Gulf region, the demand for reliable energy will only grow.

Further, we’re seeing Wright’s Law - how mass production drives down costs with every doubling of the cumulative number of units produced - play out in energy storage as prices beat projections.

There’s nothing fundamental preventing the U.S. from being a leader in storage supply, but China is destined to become the epicenter of storage manufacturing as it has in solar PV – unless we go out of our way to localize industry.
